“Star Wars” Barbie Dolls Are Coming
Mattel and Disney are teaming up on a special collection of “Star Wars” Barbie dolls based on characters from the movies. The three high-fashion dolls are available for pre-order now and are inspired by the concept art for Princess Leia, Darth Vader, and R2-D2 in the 1977 film “Star Wars: A New Hope.”
- The Princess Leia Barbie comes with the character’s famous hairstyle and she’s wearing a long, glamorous white dress with floor-length sleeves and a silver corset belt.
- For the Darth Vader Barbie, Mattel swaps his trademark helmet for some stylish shades and the Barbie is dressed in a shiny full-on black look, complete with a cape.
- And the R2-D2 Barbie doll has blue hair and “radar eye” makeup and she’s wearing a geometric outfit with blue designs that resemble the droid, along with some white thigh-high boots and a white bomber jacket.
But you may not want to get these for your kids, because, at $100 apiece, these collector Barbies are pretty pricey. They each come with unique packaging highlighting the iconic character and they’ll be available in November.
