The number of measles cases in the United States has increased from 465 cases as of last week to 555 cases on Monday.
The AP reports that 20 states have reported cases, but New York has seen the bulk of cases, with nearly two-thirds of the nation’s count occurring in the state.
The current measles outbreak is on track to set a record, beating out 2014’s 667 reported cases. The most before that was 963 cases in 1994.
Also on Monday, the World Health Organization shared that globally there are four times as many measles cases so far this year as there were last year at the same time. The bulk of cases outside of the U.S. are in Ukraine, Madagascar, and India.
