George Michael Releases 1st Posthumous Song on “Last Christmas” Soundtrack

The upcoming holiday rom-com Last Christmas shares its name with Wham!’s 1984 hit single, so it’s only fitting that frontman George Michael’s first posthumous release now appears on the movie’s official soundtrack.

On Wednesday, Michael’s YouTube account shared “This Is How (We Want You to Get High),” recorded during one of the late singer’s last recording sessions.

Rolling Stone says the track, which was co-written and co-produced by Michael and collaborator James Jackman, “has an upbeat vibe, but leans on heavier topics in the lyrics.”

Inspired by Michael’s music, Last Christmas stars Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke and Crazy Rich Asians‘ Henry Golding as seasonally star-crossed lovers in London. Even better, the movie was written by Emma Thompson and helmed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig.

It premieres in theaters this coming Friday.
