WIZARD OF OZ: There’s No Place Like Home

There’s no place like home for a pair of ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz.

The iconic shoes, which Judy Garland wore in the classic 1939 film, were stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 2005. Following a 13-year investigation, the FBI finally announced early this morning that the sparkly shoes have been recovered. The feds have not yet given any other details about the recovery, but they are planning a news conference to discuss it later today.

The slippers are one of several pairs that were custom made for the movie. Another pair is jointly-owned by Leonardo DiCaprio and film director Steven Spielberg and is on display at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
