Steve Miller has commented on the death of guitarist Matt Murphy at the age of 88. He says, “He was a great blues artist, appeared in the Blues Brothers movies and played with James Cotton when James and I toured together. Besides being a superb guitarist, Matt was a sly and cunning poker player and he won my whole week’s per diem and my shoes after a gig we did together with James in Spokane, Washington back in the ’70s. May he rest in peace!”

Chaka Khan’s first new music in 11 years proves that she’s no golden oldie.

The voice of such R&B and funk classics as “Tell Me Something Good,” “I’m Every Woman” and “I Feel for You,” has posted her new single “Like Sugar” online. It’s a pulsating electronic dance track — and the farthest thing from being “retro” or “throwback.”

Expect details soon on Chaka’s upcoming album. (Rolling Stone)
