The event, dubbed Elton John: I’m Still Standing- A Grammy Salute, will be taped on January 30 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York– just two days after the 60th annual Grammy Awards.
Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Miranda Lambert, John Legend, and Little Big Town are among the acts who are set for the event.
“Elton’s songs are such classics,” AEG Ehrlich Ventures executive producer Ken Ehrlich tells Billboard. “They’re beautifully written lyrically and melodically.”
“Sir Elton John is an international music legend who has captivated audiences across generations for more than five decades,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy, in a statement. “His creativity, dynamic presence, and melodic virtuosity have positioned him as a cultural icon, and the Recording Academy is pleased to honor his immeasurable contributions to the music community.”

“I intend to defend myself against any alleged charges you may have been reading about in the media,” Simmons said in a statement sent to Ultimate Classic Rock. “For the record, I did not assault the person making these accusations in the manner alleged in the complaint or harm her in any way. I am conferring with my lawyers with the aim of vigorously countering these allegations. And, I look forward to my day in court where the evidence will prove my innocence.”
The alleged victim’s legal team has issued their own statement, however, noting:
“My client is embarrassed and humiliated by the incident with Mr. Simmons,” lawyer Willie W. Williams told the San Bernardino Sun. “She filed suit because she wanted to make a strong statement that this behavior is unacceptable and she wants to see an end to this type of behavior.”

The band has retired from touring but the rock legend says fans will likely get one more look at them on stage during the induction ceremony.
“We probably will,” Ocasek told Rolling Stone. “I don’t know in which way we will. I’ve been thinking about that a bit since it came up. There’s all kinds of different scenarios we could do. I don’t know how, but I assume it would be expected and I’d be prepared for that.”
Drummer David Robinson said they “haven’t discussed it,” but in respect to a live performance, adds:
“I don’t know why we wouldn’t,” he mused. “I gotta drag my drums out and practice a bit. We’ve got a lot of songs to choose from. We’ll get together and talk about it. Actually, it’ll be fun. Maybe we’ll even throw a twist on some of the songs or just do something unusual, change it up a bit.”

No, these people are sadists.” One of his fans replied, “How about you keep making music instead of pushing things you have no clue about.” Frampton shot back with, “I can and will say whatever I want to. It’s my right as a U.S. citizen and human being. This is inhumane behavior no matter what political belief you have.”
