Steve Van Zandt has commented on Thursday’s student protests, saying, “Congratulations on the magnificent organization displayed [as] inspired by the Parkland kids. There is truly hope for the future.” Rod Stewart said, “Your courage is seen all over the world. Stay strong. We’re with you.”

The folks who got a statue of David Bowie erected in Aylesbury, England (it will be unveiled next Sunday) are petitioning to have the town itself renamed Aylesbowie. It’s not so far-fetched, either. Organizer David Stopps points out that there have already been 57 variations on the place’s name since records have been kept.

The April 28th Benmont Tench and (Hopefully) Friends show at Largo in West Hollywood won’t be a reunion of Tom Petty band members. Responding to a fan’s question, the Heartbreakers keyboardist tweets, “Absolutely not. It means I hope some of my friends show up to play along, but who knows? It definitely does not mean any Heartbreakers.”

Macy’s is using a re-recorded version of Blondie’s “One Way or Another” in its new TV spot.

Moody Blues drummer Graeme Edge got a shoutout from Pittsburgh Pirates announcer Steve Blass during Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves. Blass was talking about the Bradenton (Florida) Country Club, where Edge is a member, and said, if given a few cocktails, the drummer will tell some great stories about his life as a musician.

Barbra Streisand tells The Hollywood Reporter that she has seen parts of the Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper remake of A Star is Born. She calls the upcoming fourth version of the timeless story “very very good.”

Frank Sinatra — Standing Room Only, a three-CD set of previously unreleased concert recordings, will be released May 4th by Capitol/UME. The 1987 show, from Reunion Arena in Dallas, includes “New York, New York.”

Bon Jovi‘s new single, “When We Were Us,” is off to a fast start. It debuts at number-15 on Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart.
