BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Muscial)

WHAT’S IT ABOUT? An adaptation of the Disney fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love.

WHO’S IN IT? Emma Watson, Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, Dan Stevens, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Josh Gad

TRIVIA:

Emma reportedly bailed on La La Land to do this movie, while Ryan Gosling was offered the role of the Beast but decided to do La La Land instead.
Gad’s character, LeFou, is the first openly homosexual character in a Disney film. This has caused a bit of controversy. A theater in Alabama has refused to screen the film because of the subplot. The Film Censorship Board in Malaysia has insisted the “gay moment” scene be cut, but so far Disney has refused. In Russia, the film has be given an adults-only rating.
The original Beauty and the Beast animated feature came out in 1991. It made $351 million worldwide. In 2010, IGN named Beauty and the Beast the greatest animated film of all time.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT? In a twisted social experiment, 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia and forced to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.

The budget was only $5 million.
