MICHAEL JACKSON: “Fake Recordings” Suit Rejected

MICHAEL JACKSON: “Fake Recordings” Suit Rejected

A judge has tossed out a lawsuit over supposedly “fake” Michael Jackson vocals.

The Jackson estate and Sony Music scored a court victory Tuesday when Judge Elwood Lui dismissed the class-action suit spearheaded by superfan Vera Serova. Serova believes an impersonator sang on several tracks on the posthumous 2010 album Michael and that fans deserve compensation for the “misrepresentation.”

Lui ruled that the recordings were “subject to full First Amendment protection. They are therefore outside the scope of an actionable unfair competition or consumer protection claim in the case.” (Hollywood Reporter)
